Spectra Roles & Permissions

Spectra User Roles

This section describes each role's access level within Spectra. The Spectra account owner is the first Client Admin that gets added when the account is created by the Spectra Sales rep. There is no limit on how many users and their roles can be added to Spectra.

The various roles below contain default permissions for various standard user profiles. Additional permissions can be granted to any user role upon request to the Spectra team.

Client Admin	The Client Admin role has full account access in Spectra across all Matters. This role has the most extensive permissions within Relativity. If Brainspace is enabled for a matter, this role has administrator permissions.
Matter Admin	The Matter Admin is very similar to Discover Manager, but with the added ability to create new matters and manage matters to which they are assigned. While this role has identical permissions in Relativity to the Discovery Manager role, it has fewer permissions than the Client Admin role.
Discovery Manager	The Discovery Manager role has access to imported files and processing volumes for matters to which they have been granted access. While this role has more permissions in Relativity than the Attorney, Reviewer, and Contractor roles, it has fewer permissions than the Client Admin role. If Brainspace is enabled for a matter, this role has standard user permissions.
Processing Analyst	The Processing Analyst role is identical to Discovery Manager in terms of Spectra permissions, but does not have direct access to Relativity or Brainspace.
Attorney	The Attorney role is ideal for users that do not need Spectra access or administrator permissions in Relativity, but otherwise require maximum flexibility within Relativity. This role has access to a variety of reports, can create Lists, and can view more detailed information on batch sets and database history. If Brainspace is enabled for a matter, this role has standard user permissions.
Reviewer	While lacking access to some of the reporting functionality and other features available to the Attorney role, the Reviewer role still retains significant rights within Relativity, including the ability check out batches, print and export documents, create and edit searches, access all folders, and conduct mass tagging. This role is best for those with more limited Relativity experience or those who do not require more extensive permissions.
Contractor	The Contractor role has the fewest permissions within Relativity. This role can tag and redact documents and access searches, but cannot print or save documents to PDFs nor can they export natives or metadata. This role is appropriate for Expert access and/or Contract Reviewers where their document access and activities will be extremely limited in Relativity or where additional or custom security is required.

Good to know

Charges for each user are applied based on the calendar month, so you may want to wait until the beginning of a month if access isn’t urgent and budget is a concern.
